If I buy from a real estate project ran by organized crime?

Question: Patrice, do you think it matters if I buy from a real estate project ran by organized crime?

Answer: Of course! Absolutely! Listen, every buyer has a social responsibility not to support organized crime. At McGill Real Estate we throroughly audit the developers with whom we work. But let’s not fool ourselves, we know they exist at every level either as contactors or developers. I sometimes hear buyers who say “I got the deal of the century right now.” At some point, if a promoter or a contractor is not there to make money but to launder it, he is of course able to come up with a product at a very competitive price. But the question to ask yourself is, “Is your selfish buyer’s side ready to save money to support and ultimately reinforce organized crime?” I think it is everyone’s responsibility to eradicate organized crime. If tomorrow morning, in real estate, there is no one who buys from an organized crime group, they will disappear from the industry. It is not very difficult. People know. Just do a couple of searches on google, look into it with notaries, lawyers. You’ll find your answers pretty quickly. It’s not secret. It’s actually an open secret to know that developers, projects on the island of Montreal are linked to organized crime. It is our social responsibility not to support this type of crime.

Just a tip from Pat!
