Some of the most creative new condos in Montreal

Condo builders all have their own unique visions of how their creation will be special or unique.

But with a wealth of new condos going up around Montreal it’s important to know which of the newest developments are truly superior in what they offer.

Here’s five condo developments sure to peak anyone’s curiosity. From the exquisite architecture of Le Peterson to the glassed-in corridors and roof garden of Le Beaumont, to Walter on Atwater’s perfectly-Montreal view, the opportunities right now are exciting in this city.

1. “Unparalleled Architecture” Le Peterson, downtown Montreal: $214,900 to $1.5 million

Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 10.03.24 PMLe Peterson is undeniably one of the most-impressive new condo buildings under construction from an architectural-standpoint. Little else in the city rivals it in terms of its beauty.

Located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles, just south of Sherbrooke street at De Bleury, the building is at the hub of everything downtown Montreal has to offer.

“The Peterson really has a lot of interesting things that differentiate it from other projects in the market, starting with the location” said director Mitch Abrahams. “There’s a ton of stuff happening there. It’s where the real lifestyle of downtown is.”

He referenced growth in the area, like Place Des Arts, the new National Film Board building, the National Ballet building under construction, a new french-language super hospital and even McGill University and UQAM’s growth.

“We’re really at the hub of where the coolest things are happening in downtown Montreal,” said Abrahams.

Le Peterson has two main factors making it attractive to buyers: the 25th floor and the Ground floor lounge.

The 25th floor features a breathtaking view of the Montreal skyline and is equipped with a yoga studio, gym and even a climbing wall. And after a work-out, sit back and relax on the 3-storey high terrace. Meanwhile the Ground floor lounge is a place where you can meet your neighbours and entertain your friends. With everything you need to keep the party going – piano music lounge, fully functional kitchen, party room, game room with pool and foosball tables – this lounge has it all.

It’s the only condo in the Quartier des Spectacles with generous curvilinear balconies. Owners can choose from three styles: lofts, suites or penthouses. The lofts have 18-foot ceilings and soaring windows, the suites have huge balconies in every unit and the penthouses are each personalized along with panoramic views of Montreal.

Le Peterson is the vision of Groupe Benvenuto, the accomplished developer of upscale condominiums, both in Montreal and Toronto.

2. “Right on the water” Walter on Atwater, Atwater Market: $199,000 to $1.1 million

Given that the bulk of humanity lives near water today, it should come as no surprise that building a beautiful condo that overlooks the Lachine Canal was long in the planning books.

Walter on Atwater was built by father and son Joseph and Jonathan Nezri and builders Yohan Ohayon and Ilan Reich of Devrino Inc. It’s the brainchild of four Montrealers from the world of fashion, design and business who came together to develop a housing concept that “eschews the superfluous, adapting easily to the lifestyles of many.”

This condo is just steps away from the lovely weekend destination Atwater Market, and features contemporary custom-made kitchen cabinets with choice of quartz countertop and backsplash, designer bathroom, and more. An ultra-design lobby walled in glass complements a landscaped rooftop terrace with swimming pool and panoramic views, a state-of-the-art fitness room, and a wi-fi reception and lounge area on the ground floor.

These beautiful 105 spaces go from 606 to 1,887 square feet.

3. “Stress Free Amenities” Le Beaumont, N.D.G. – $220,000 to $1.5 million

Having gained extensive coverage in the Montreal media, Le Beaumont is likely Notre-Dame-de-Grâce’s most talked-about new condo development. It’s also one of a tiny number of Montreal condo developments that sits on top of a perfectly-equipped grocery store (an IGA). The amenities are literally at your door-step in this creation.

“Buyers also want to simplify life. So some new builds not only include a pool, gym and reception room but also ultra-convenient grocery shopping,” wrote the Montreal Gazette’s Kathryn Greenaway. “The Beaumont NDG is a case in point.”

As Greenaway wrote, The 124-unit Beaumont NDG is being built on Côte-St-Luc Rd., slightly west of Clanranald Av. Two towers, one nine floors and the other 11 floors, will be joined by glassed-in corridors. The residential portion of the build will begin on the third floor, which is also the location of a roof garden.

“Because the condos begin on the third floor, they are higher than almost all the buildings around them which allows for great light,” DevMcGill president Stéphane Côté told the Gazette. “Beautiful light is important to today’s buyers. So are good views.”

And good views Le Beaumont has. Thanks to the height of the towers as well as generous windows, Le Beaumont NDG will offer unobstructed panoramic views extending as far as the St. Lawrence River, Lake St. Louis, Mount Royal, St. Joseph’s Oratory and even the Laurentians to the north.

Moreover, High exposed concrete ceilings combine with refined interior finishes that include quartz countertops, engineered wood floors, contemporary cabinetry in classic colours and ceramics in the bathrooms. Each unit will feature a private outdoor space; a balcony or a private terrace and yes, there is underground parking.

4. “The Penthouse Suite” Nordelec Penthouse, Atwater Market – $442,000 to $1.4 million

Who wouldn’t want to live in the penthouse suite? The Nordelec Penthouse units, steps away from the Lachine Canal and Atwater Market, answer those desires.

These spectacular penthouses, New York flavored, are essentially aerial townhouses on three levels, perched atop Nordelec, a centenary and exceptional architectural quality condo building.

Chic and refined, these living spaces are designed to make owners feel special. With up to 1,920 square feet over three levels and ceilings up to 17’ feet in some areas, the contemporary finishes and modern amenities perfectly harmonize with this historical building. Each penthouse even has its very own roof-top terrace, some with majestic views of the city and the canal

The three-level units are mostly made of converted industrial space, with large industrial windows, contemporary kitchens and bathrooms and most importantly, amazing private terraces.
