AFFILIATED REAL ESTATE AGENT AGENT IMMOBILIER AFFILIE
“REAL ESTATE IS THE RARE JOB THAT IS MOSTLY
WIN / WIN, WHERE THE SELLER IS HAPPY TO SELL
AND THE BUYER HAS FOUND HIS DREAM.”
What do we all live in? What do we all come back to at the end of the day? What do we all wish to own one day? The answer to all of the above, is our home. Home is as universal as water, yet have you ever stopped to ask the questions: Who are these people who take care of the buying and selling of my home? How do they think, and what makes them do what they do? When we decided to do the list of men for KA’s best of Montreal, we knew we had to put this essential group into the mix, and with Mickael Chaput, we are sure that we have the best in Montreal.
KA — You have a love for golf that is almost religious. How
does the sport of golf influence your career?
MC — Golf has influenced my career in many ways. When
I was 20 years old, I opened a golf school in Mascouche.
Having my business at such a young age was the best
schooling I could have had. When it came time to start my
real estate career, my past experiences helped me avoid
some hurdles and mistakes that would have set me back.
On a day to day basis, golf helps me relax and think straight,
almost like meditation.
KA — When are you most in your element?
MC — I feel most in my element sitting at a conference
table concluding a deal with a client!
KA — What makes the business of real estate keep your
attention?
MC — It keeps my attention because there are so many
aspects to the real estate business that it never gets boring.
What’s great is that every day is a different day, you meet
different people from different backgrounds and you never
conclude a deal the same way. It really is an exciting job.
KA — If you were to change something about the way the
business of buying and selling of homes were conducted,
what would it be?
MC — I would change the real estate agent course. I would
make it longer with classes specific to marketing and real
estate investment. I honestly think that if this would happen,
the way real estate is done would change dramatically.
KA — All homes and agents seem to be doing the same
thing while shouting they are doing it differently. How are
you actually being different from the rest?
MC — I think I am different because I chose a boutique
broker. At McGill Real Estate, we believe in a small amount
of agents doing big volumes, rather than a big amount of
agents doing small volumes. By choosing McGill Real Estate,
I chose a broker that is at the cutting edge of technology.
For example, our new virtual visits are very appreciated
by our clients and our web site is one of the most visited
websites for a single brokerage firm in Quebec.
KA — When do you feel most satisfied at the end of a transaction?
MC — I feel most satisfied at the end of a transaction when
my client shakes my hand and thanks me for my hard work.
Since I put so much energy in my transaction, when a client
expresses his satisfaction, it is the most gratifying feeling I
can get.
KA — Which city in the world do you see as the most interesting
for new real estate?
MC — Montreal! No doubt. I am constantly on the lookout
for new booming markets and after the recent economic
situation, it became very clear to me that Montreal was one
of the safest and most promising markets.
KA — Why do you choose Montreal as your base of operations?
MC — Because it is home and I love this city. I also believe
I feel most satisfied at the end of a transaction when
my client shakes my hand and thanks me for my hard
work. Since I put so much energy in my transaction,
when a client expresses his satisfaction, it is the most
gratifying feeling I can get.
in the great potential of this city and want to contribute to
it’s success.
KA — What has been the single event that has changed you
the most as a person?
MC — My father’s death. Even though I didn’t get a chance
to know my father very much, when I heard he died it hit me
very hard. I realized at that moment, that life was not forever
and with time it has given me a new appreciation for my
family, friends and my life in general.
KA — How important is the act of charity to you?
MC — For me charity is giving back. My way of giving back
is by taking care and helping my family and friends as much
as I can. I would very much like to start a foundation to help
single mothers.
KA — What is on your music playlist?
MC — Surprisingly, I think I am the only person I know who
does not own an i-Pod, or has music on his computer. Lately,
I’ve been listening to Andrea Bocelli and I just purchased
the latest Jay-Z CD. I also recently discovered a great new
talent called Ashley King, she has a great version of the
song A Change is gonna come!
KA — Who is Mickael?
MC — Mickaël Chaput is PASSIONATE! I love what I do
and I love life in general.
