Quebec Real Estate Brokers Canadian Real Estate Association CREA

Patrice Groleau, owner of the McGill Real Estate Agency shares his thoughts on the decision of Quebec real estate brokers breaking away from CREA (Candian Real Estate Association ) .

For real estate brokers in Quebec, CREA represents the websites formerly known as www.MLS.ca ( Multiple Listing Service) and www.SIA.ca ( Multiple Listing Service), which is nowadays better known as www.REALTOR.ca. The CREA websites (MLS , MLS , REALTOR ) are losing ground in Quebec with no ads & poor ranking on search engines such as Google. The new www.CENTRIS.ca website includes all properties of all Quebec real estate agencies and brokers thanks to its advertising campaigns and fairly good search engine optimization.

Real Estate BrokerThe danger is that CENTRIS advertising budgets are not maintained over time and that all efforts are not made to increase its popularity . It is understood that the CENTRIS site is a universal site which sets all the Quebec real estate brokers and agencies on an equal footing. The majority of the members sit on the boards of the Organisme d’autoréglmentation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) and the Greater Montréal Real Estate Board. The GMREB represents the majority of large agencies and does not place importance on fairness towards the brokers at the expense of these agencies’ websites.

It is crucial that the people in control at www.CENTRIS.ca lead at full speed, as long as possible and as quickly as possible without setting their foot on the brake. Let’s give them the chance to demonstrate their integrity and good faith. At the moment things are going well but with the allocated budgets, and the available funds, they can do much, much more.
